I doubt the 91 has a real EVAP system but it might have a canister. They only way the inspector knows what to check for is to look on the sticker on the core support.....lose the sticker!
LOL.
A '91 is a square body R/V not a C/K and is pretty caveman like as far as emissions goes. It has an EGR as well as a cat (the old 6-sided sucky ones). It has other things you don't want too like EST, etc. The good thing about non-emissions counties in TX is that you're gonna put a newer style engine in and it only has to have what the engine had.....and since they have reduced the number of emissions devices since the beginning of the LS engine series, you can SAY it's a newer non-EGR engine. If you're not in a sniffer county all you have to do is find a dumbass or slip a friend a $20 to overlook mods that should fail visual...
what is EST? do the inspectors even have to look under the hood? they never have on my previous vehicles. then again they were all pre-73 vehicles. lol i guess im gonna go ahead and start collecting parts. the reason i want to go with the 60e is because i dont want to have to get the drive shaft cut down. that and its basically an electronically controlled 700r4 and it has done well over the years in this truck. i dont really like the gearing of the 80e anyway. im thinking when i do the swap im gonna swap gears or the whole differential because im pretty sure this one had 2.73 rear gears. most of the 700r4 trucks did. i basically just want this to be a comfortable/affordable daily driver. i wont be pulling much. maybe the occasional small trailer.
thanks for the help,
John
