Exactly. When reinstalling the TC, make sure to grab it with both hands and spin it back and forth while pushing on it...then listen for it to fall towards the tranny TWICE. You will hear and fell it "clunk" twice. That way you know its in there. The face of the converter should be about an 1.5" inside the face of the bellhousing.

OR you can look at the input and see the tabs where the converter needs to side in...in relation to the key-way on the hub of the converter. Mark the slots if the input on the bellhousing and line up the converter as best as you can from your markings. Push and twist at the same time until it is fully seated.

Guys, what's weird is that I've seen more than one shattered pump that made it 1000 miles before the truck wouldn't go. I know....sounds impossible but it is...ask *cough*brad*cough*....

One thing I have to add is how do you get anything bolted up if the TC isn't seated in the pump...Wouldn't it bind up from not being in far enough, this would cause it to bind against the flexplate, correct?

Seems so to me. Then again I have seen it from 40' and it only makes a POP...sometimes up to 15 minutes after the bellhousing bolts are tightened. The clue to me is how hard the crank must be to turn to allow converter bolt installation but by then it's BROKE.

Either shaft, probably just need to fix what's broken. If the rotor in the pump is shattered and all the peices stayed in there, probably just need a pump.
