    water in heads???

hey guys, I am swaping a 5.3L from my "work truck" that had 198,000mi and was about to give up.. I got another 5,3L from a 2003 Suburban 4wd.. the first of my questions, I removed the intake from my new engine to clean it up and one of the head ports had some water on it.. what can cause the water in the head port?? the engine was sitting for a couple of months.. the second question is, i will replace the tranny also, is the torque converter the same as mine? my truck is the same year as the burban.. I will put also a G-80 that came out of the suburban.. I know they are not good, but is just to improve traction off road..
btw, I got engine, tranny and G80 for $300 from a good friend of mine..
    06' Silverado RCSB 5.3L 4wd..

Enjoy that G80 when it breaks and locks up and tears your transmission apart(I've seen it happen). Just because it's free doesn't mean you should put it in. I ran the open differential for the longest time and while it's not optimal the G80 in my opinion is a worse option.

thanks for beeing so optimist.. I run my truck with a G80 and beat on it and never had a problem.. I know G80 (grenade 80) is the worst choice in POSI TRACTION, but I bet is WAY better than running an open diff for such a long time..

That's very debatable, but I suppose do what you will.

Water in the intake port could have come from several things...leaving it sitting for a while and having it rain on it, the head cracked, etc. Are they the 706 heads? Take the casting number and see if it was made by Castech. If so, I would get rid of them since those heads had major issues with cracks in them.

The converter will be the same and will bolt right up.

Did you find this out the same way I did? Anyone heard from Steve lately after the move?

G80's aren't as bad as most people claim...I love mine. Got it because the one in our tahoe has 150k on it.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

In the 10 bolts yes they are. Give me a week and I'll find you links to 100+ G80 failures. They are arguably the weakest component in our drivetrain.
