Transfer case swap 246 to 263

Hi guys,
I am considering upgrading my transfer case on my 99 OBS Tahoe. I have the 246 auto trac now and would like to replace with the 263 auto trac. I am under the impression that the 263 is much heavier duty. Does anyone know if the input and output shafts are different? Has anyone done this conversion?

If you do this make it a therad and show pics so i can do it to i have a 246 and i have a 241 i would like to switch it to i just dont want to deal with the wiring. Good luck.

I don't even know if it's possible to go from 246 to 263. The input output shafts may be different.

Going to an auto trac from a manual trans might be a mess too. You would need to hook up the control module that deals with shifting and tap into the ABS system. That's where the auto trac gets the speed signal so that it knows to shift in and out of 4 low. I disable ABS when I'm offroad and 4low shifts will not engage with ABS off. If I try, the buttons stop responding and I have to disconnect power for it to reset.
