Asked this question 100 times still no answer.

Gotta 99 silverado with a 4.3. The original fuel pump went out at 170k replaced it with the full airtex unit from advance. that only last 6 months. Then got another under warranty that only lasted 2 months and then another and it only last 3 months. Now have replaced it with a Gm pump and here it is 4 months later and its going out again. Truck has 183k on the clock.

Weird thing is none of the pumps die electronically they will just stop putting out pressure at high rpms then start getting into the lower rpms till the truck just wont even crank.

Why does this keep happening? Whats killing them? im tired of changing the pump every few months for the same thing to happen. The truck has had fuel filter changed with each pump.

my dad tells me not to drive my truck with less than a 1/4 tank of gas due to the gas kools the pump, and you might want to check all your grounds starting with the gas tank to frame, motor to frame, cab to frame, cab to motor. good luck hope it works.

I never let mine get under a 1/4 tank being I heard what Gladiator stated long ago. Mine hasnt went out so far.... Also try a Walbro 255 or other intank upgrade... I hear alot of good about them.

did you ever check your fuel filter? IMO I would try to find a restriction, or wire problem. Maybe the pump has a bad ground?

Check every wire and connection. My bet is there is a bad ground and the pump is shorting out.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

Also make sure and empty the tank the next time you have the pump out. Check for silicate build up in the sump that clogs the internal filter. Had a rash of 03 Z engine utilities like this.

I changed the fuel filter with every new pump. Ive swapped gas tanks and cleaned this one i have now. ally my grounds are good except for the ground from the fill nozzle to frame is gone but that shouldnt affect the pump.

Also if the pump was shorting out wouldnt it stop turning on? All these pumps turn on but arent putting out enough pressure to fire the motor.

my suggestion would be put a frame mounted pump on there, then you wont have to do all that work to get at it. Did you check the fuel filter?
