I have a 2000 Yukon Denali and want to upgrade the front brakes to something bigger and the rear drums to disc. I keep warping the rotors (I'm a little hard on the brakes towing the stunt bikes). Is there a way of using the newer 01 parts? i.e. larger rotors/calipers and rear discs/calipers. Does anyone make the adapter brackets to do so. Welding and fab work is not an issue and I am planning on tearing it down in a week. Just want the easiest route.

Just get a set of baer alumisports and be done with it. Oh and steel braided brake lines and hydroboost conversion would help also.

I would like to keep everything close to $2k for front and rear. The truck has 168K on it and I'm planning on doing a crate engine when the time comes. I'm not planning on doing track days with it though. LOL
Stainless brake lines helped A LOT. But that's not going to fix the rotor issue. Rear drums shouldn't warp, and they are used on all the 2500/3500 HD's so they PROBABLY stop better. I'd just get a nice set of slotted/drilled rotors for front and those lines.
I'm pretty sure you can just change brackets in the front to go to newer calipers, but don't quote me. To change to rear disc I BELIEVE easiest way would be changing rear ends, and adding proportioning valve inline.

I was looking into the SSB rear Disc conversion which comes with a new master cylinder and all the necessary rear end items. I am not having a problem with the rear drums warping. Just the front rotors which are small enough to go on a Yugo.
I have excessive pedal travel almost like the rear adjusters aren't doing their job or I have a bad master. Which would explain the rotor's warping from excessive heat/use.
If anyone has input on adding the larger 01 rotors, that is kinda the direction I want to go. Keep everything GM based so I can get parts easier....... Then again, the SSB stuff might be the only thing available in 3 years.

alumasport front kit and stainless brake lines will make it throw you through the wind shield. Its what I have.

OHHHh OLD Old Body style. Forget the brakes and trade it in on a newer version with a 6.0. The brakes are a lot better than the old old style.

It's my work horse, not going to trade it up for another year. I bought this one because it has the 5.7 and I can get solid crate motors all day long for it cheap. I could care less about the body style, just the mechanics behind it. Figured there might be someone on this forum that had built some of their own stuff instead of off the shelf items. If I was going to go with 6 piston calipers, I have 3 old ones left here from when I ran an IMSA team in the late 90's. So, all I'd have to do is buy rotors. I want something that is updated and bigger with off the shelf parts. This way if I have a mechanical failure on the road, parts are much easier to find.
