    try closer to $400
    TracTech GM 14 Bolt Detroit Locker
    and you can get them used for cheap.
    '00 Silverado, '98 Trans Am, and a couple other toys.

    This part that you found is for the GM 14 bolt full-floating diff with 10.5 inch ring gear. It re-uses an open diff case, simply replaces the side & spider gears.

    With the semi-floating 9.5 inch ring gear setup that he has, he will need the more expensive diff, and it comes with a diff case, as pictured.
