Friends Truck Stolen - And Found

A close friend of mine had his truck stolen this morning from his driveway right before he left for work. It's a gray Ford pickup (more details to come) with a large black grill guard on the front. It had a custom topper on the back that had doors to access the bed. The truck was basically his business on wheels - he's a locksmith by trade and it contained thousands of dollars worth of computerized equipment, key cutters and duplicators, key blanks, power inverters, etc. He had a tracker on it and it was tracked as far as Pleasant Grove, but they apparently found the transmitter because the signal suddenly stopped. If it's not already being dismantled, it should be pretty recognizable. The bed cover was thrown on the side of the road along with the two doors that went where the tailgate typically goes. So if you see a gray Ford pickup with a black grill guard and no tailgate please at least call the police with a location. He does have insurance, but this is his livelihood, so if there's any chance of his equipment being recovered, it would be a huge help for him to resume his business and take care of his customers. Slim chance, but worth passing the word around. The bed cover below with the doors is the type he had.

Eff. That sucks. Pleasant Grove is nowhere close, but I will keep my eye out. Should be easy to spot since it's a Ford---they will be ones driving like an idiot.

They might find the truck, but I imagine all the locksmith equipment was what they were after

Sounds like if he did any business for a shady customer that had alot of questions about his business on wheels would be the first place to start. Whoever stole it will probably be stealing ALOT more with what they were going after.
Watch the police reports and if they apprehend any one for theft Id check it out.

What sux about it is that they have all the power of a locksmith so they can break into pretty much anything.
Good thing they didnt steal ur buddy too then we will be screwd 4 sure they would then have the power and knowledge of a locksmith.

Well i would keep an eye out but im in North Houston nowhere close to where it was stolen unless it was brought here.

    good luck..........

That sucks. We have a small computerized key machine that only cuts GM keys and it was $5K. I cannot image how much all that stuff had is worth. Hope they find it.

Well they found it. He just called me about an hour ago. Sitting on a street in Pleasant Grove. They must have taken it to a garage and stripped it and then left it on a side street. Ranch Hand grill guard is gone, spare tire is gone, all of his locksmith tools, machines, computers, key blanks, etc. are gone. They also took every single bit of personal information: business cards, insurance cards, invoice book, etc. He said he's already spent over $10,000 to start replacing the stuff and isn't even close to a 1/4 of the way there yet.

I would love - LOVE - to be in a locked room with people like that for about a week....
