    Should I switch to synthetic?

I have been considering switch my truck to synthetic motor oil and was wondering if it's worth it? It is an 08 5.3 with 15,000 miles. If I do what brand/ weight should I use, which filter, and should I do my tranny and rear end?

The rear already has synth in it, don't change the trans fluid until you have to go in there at your own expense, and certainly change to synth engine oil. Brand opinions vary, I like Mobil1 5W-30. Should be an ACDelco PF48 filter.

I use royal purple or mobil 1

I put royal purple in my tranny/rear end/engine, and gained about 2 1/2 mpg on ave (highway before the lift)

Similar results on mom's stock tahoe. DEFINATELY worth it. Plus, you SHOULD be able to go longer between oil changes (tho i'm not sure i'd recommend it on a brand new engine)
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
