Cam swap thread?

Yes I used the search and cant find it. Dad and I will start tearing down the truck tomorrow. Is there even a thread on a complete swap? Does the A/C compressor have to come off? Does the whole front end have to come off I have E-fans? Do I need just a good pulley puller or do I need a balancer puller?

Other than the water pump, and crank pulley, I just took the radiator completly out with the fans. No need to remove the A/C stuff on my truck...Good luck man, its worth it!!!

I think there is one bolt on the front cover that you can't get to straight on with the AC on. Usually have to use a wrench on that one. But the AC does not need to be removed.

+1 Jon. That bottom bolt comes out with a wrench while the compressor is in the way. You need a pretty stout puller, a big torque wrench, and a creative way to hold the engine still while reinstalling the damper bolt.

    how to hold everything still:

take your accessory belt and put it over the crank pulley. fold it and wrap it around the crank pulley (over itself) a few times and loop the other end around the power steering pulley. turn the bolt until the belt tightens and everything is LOCKED.

reverse direction of the belt looping to put everything back together.

u dont have to take the a/c compressor off, just the water pump, and front cover

no u dont have to take the front end of the truck off, just take out the radiator and efans,

easiest way to get the balancer off is to go rent a chrysler pulley puller from a parts store...
