so on a a 2005 1500 with a 5.3. what is the most hp it can handle over stock. was thinking about doing a CAI, exhaust kit, nelson tune, and throttle body and mass air flow. will the stock trans hold it or what would i need to hold that extra power

stock tranny will hold a stock motor
eventually at one point it will die, maybe fast maybe slow!! theres some that have some pretty serious mods and still run the stock tranny with a servo and shift kit.as for the throttlebody do you mean spacer? if so put the money elsewhere, as to the MAF.. no need to change it..
as for a nelson tune and a CAI and exhaust personally i think you would fine, how long hmmm only the tranny will know lol
Simple: 408 on steroids!
single digits coming soon!
just depends on how hard you beat on it... my wifes tahoe is puting down near 500 hp with a tvs1900 supercharger to the stock tranny for almost 30k miles now... but it luck of the draw IMO too....

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......
I roasted my 4L60E with a 150 shot of nitrous. nothing else
txstvanwilder: but i got lube so i didnt complain
mean05: he told me a price and i bent over and lubed up
truckinL33: 6'' is not enough, and 12'' is too much
pcmcobra: don't drink and bid on egay...lol
408.Luke: lol im not blowing im investing
Its like Nathan said, he has had old man farmers with 30,000 miles on there trucks need rebuilds. How much a stock trans can hold depends on LUCK.
ok so an exhaust, CAI and a nelson tune will give me a nice little kick, but what kind of servo and shift kit should i invest in
I've got 150k on mine...with same mods you're mentioning, and then some... no problems here. Put a good fluid in it, keep filter clean...don't neutral drop.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
just roll the dice and keep your fingers crossed...Everysingle time I made a pass at the track I was hoping I would be able to make it home. I had a FLT LVL 5+ 70e with putting 565rwhp down.. Smoked the clutches within the first 4k miles, had it rebuilt and sold it... Getting a built 80e now...fingers crossed again.
It's really luck of the draw if you ask me. I've seen some tranny's take an absolute ass kicking from younger people with minor mods for 100K+ miles, and I've also seen them go in new stock trucks with less than 20K miles on them that were babied by 70 year olds.
