Why don't you just buy a set of headers and have an exhaust shop make you a y-pipe with cats?

I emailed dynatech about getting a replacement sticker. I was thinking you could make your own header/cat system and slap one of their stickers on it. I told them that a "buddy" was buying a used Header system and needed a sticker and this is what they said:
This all depends on what the regulations are for the area you live in. The statement that we currently tag on all of our systems and components is:
NOTE: These products are intended for racing and off-road applications. Not legal for sale or use in the state of California, nor in states which have adopted California emission standards.
This should get you what you need.
Thank You for your interest.

So I guess that is bad for you, right?

I've gone back and fourth with headers, read a lot of posts, a lot of different opinions. Here is a pretty good article with dyno results. It's on a 5.3 but you get the idea. I was never convinced that headers are worth the money on a truck unless you're consistently running higher RPMs and/or have the money. It just doesn't seem like there is as much power to be gained through exhaust work in the newer cars. I think the factory cats are fairly high flow so even adding some random technology cats will not really do all that much if you're looking for real performance.

Check out Stainless Works. I run their LTs on my 06 2500HD. Really nice headers.
