just remember that these motors have alot in them...

when you start increasing the power the smaller things start to break.

first your rear G80 might/will eventually grenade hopefully it wont take out the gear and drive shaft with it...

trans will be the next to go burning clutches breaking a pump who knows.

engine should be good for healthy power as long as your tune is good.

I thought the same way you did my brother has an 03 cobra i wanted to at least give him a run for his money...but then he started modding it and he makes way more money than me...plus there is the weight issue i would have had to overcome...

you gotta pay to play...think over what you want to do and slowly build what you want part at a time if the money is tight. Thats wut I did...first thing a tune and headers(installed headers and exhaust myself) then the cam and springs(had tyler help install) next was rear gears and an eaton(shop did that) I then had virgil retune my truck and it was a blast to drive....Until the tranny went...had Jerry build me a new one with a good stall and Danny and Tyler helped me install it.

Save your money stay stock. He already has the jump on you. It will cost a fortune to keep up. Save up and by a new ZR1 or z06 then you can spank him stock.

You sure have been negative lately... Are you stating to give up his dream of beating his brother and let a FORD spank him..... Dude not cool haha.
Honestly it can be done. I believe people are giving his brother a TON of credit on something unproved. Yes some trucks set up like that have run 10s... Some that did 11s.... get them heat soaked enough and it maybe 12s. haha.
YES he could buy a F-body or a vette and spank him something awful and the excuse his brother will have is "yeah, well you had to sell your crap and buy a sports car to do it" I dont have siblings but from what I can gather about Rivalry... Sometimes money is worth spending to come out ahead...

All prices are give or take of course. If you aren't doing the work yourself, then there's labor too.
sounds good, but needs a toon too!

Ok--what it boils down to is that your brother already has a jump on the mods--plus he has spent a decent amount of money on his truck. It would take a forced induction motor or a crapload of nitrous for you to beat him.

What else is there to say???

I wouldn't worry about beating your brother, just set a goal and reach it. There is a ton you could do to your truck to make it faster. I don't think anyone gets to where they want to be in one step so plan to take a few. You could start with beating a stock L. Then work up to a modded L and so on. I have a bunch of money in mine and I'm sure I can't beat all L's.
