trust me, I'm in the same boat.

already have CAI, and plans are :

    LPP longtubes with ORY
gears are 3.42's, and put on 31" tall tires, so 4.10's
    custom tune

then when my warranty is out in Feb, get a 6.0, and add a cam, have tune redone. Headers bolt up, gears will be done, and depending on then what cam I use, add converter.

Well for a 4.8 your best bang for the buck is probably to port and polish your stock 862s & upgrade to 2.02" intake valves & 1.60" exhaust valves. You can usually do this for under $1000, no need to buy a $3500 combo from Trick Flow on a 4.8. Then mill them .030" to kick up the compression. The cam I would say a Texas-Speed 220/220 .581"/.581". A longer duration cam will probably bleed out too much compression and less compression = less power. You can always change your set-up but this is buget friendly suggestion

upgrading the valve size inthe 4.8/5.3 head actually hurts flow. a 2.0 was the typical upgrade. a 2.02 is overkill. PRC did back to back tests with 5.3 heads with stock valve vs the 2.0 and the 2.0 valve lost flow.

the typical 2.02 valve theme was used back in the sbc days. these heads flow much better then those heads of those times with smaller valves. some of the better LS heads arent even using 1.6 valves rather alone a 4.8 needing them.s also if youre going to toss 1k at those heads you might as well buy a set from a known manufactor for that price.

the turbo kit from Trick is a nice piece and would do much better for the cost vs performance then other things suggested
    2002 Lightning - GT headed 5.5Litre w/ Twin 7665s
    2002 Silverado - 427Lsx w/ Twin gt4202s
    2010 Silverado crewcab Z71 - 5.3litre w/ procharger
    2000 Wrangler - 5.3litre with some stance
    2014 Xsport- 3.5 Eco boost

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

I would just go with the Thunder racing 224/224 cam
    get some comp 918 springs
    maybe some hardened pushrods
put in an LS2 timing chain, and a ported oil pump
    some longtube headers
and get a custom tune and you should have a big gain on your power, should be plenty for a daily driver.

The TR 224 cam is a great one for street use.
