The 4200 ft altitude would have been good info to know up front. The pic in your avatar is a little deceptive - I thought you had a long wheelbase truck. Based on this info, your pre-cam numbers are right on.

At this point in time, I would suggest a compression check. IIRC, the stock 5.3 valve springs are rated for 0.500" max lift. That would put coil bind somewhere near 0.525". The Hot Cam has a 0.525" lift spec, which means you may be binding your springs. I would refrain from beating on the truck until you check this. Better yet, install the LS6 springs - they're good for about 0.575" lift.

Also, did you double check the dot alignment on the cam/crank gears? If the alignment was off by one tooth, it would cause a similar performance degradation.

I would probably try to resolve this issue before changing tunes. No sense in adding another variable to the mix. If it wasn't pulling timing and your fuel mix was in the ballpark, your ET should go down with the new cam, not up. You added 28º more intake duration with the new cam. How much did you change the fuel tables with the Predator?

Put the springs in, get a tune, then look at TQ converters.

While you're at it, get the longtubes. They're worth it. Most people do that mod first.

With the cam, cold air and nelosn tune it dyno'd 232hp, 3hp less than the baseline, then added lts,3in exhaust minus the cats and it dyno'd at 285hp

The truck is a longbed. Its just that long tubes are so pricey. The cam dots were lined up like this [ : ]. I'm gonna put the springs in on thursday. Thats a lot of stuff to reply to in one reply. What trans does my truck have? How do I know. Sorry I'm old school. I only know Th350s, TH400s, C-4, C-6, and power glides.

Look for the M30, M35, etc. on the SPID label in the glove box for trans info.

I put the springs in. WOW!! The truck wasn't floating the valves with the stock springs, I guess they wern't stiff enough to close the valves fast enough and I must had been loosing compression. With the new springs my power comes on at 2500 r.p.m. rather than 3500 r.p.m.It pulls so much better now. I'll find out what it runs tonight if it doesn't rain. Think I can get away with a 2500 stall with the ls1 hot cam?
