I was thinking a 3000 stall. That is my truck in the avatar. It goes 15.70s at 4200ft of elevation with the stock cam. It weighs 4690 with me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas. When I was in Oaklahoma at 1000 ft it went 14.97 @ 90 m.p.h. with a CIA, sorty headders, 3 in cat back and a Hypertec programer. When I came back to El Paso at 4200ft it went 15.99 once. It normaly ran 16.00-16.10. I went to a diablo sport and it went consistant 15.70s. I was hoping the cam would give me at least 3 tenths.

You need some Lts, I lost hp when I had my cam installed, Put on some lts and gained about 50hp, But you will need a stall convtr with that cam.

The truck is a longbed. Its just that long tubes are so pricey. The cam dots were lined up like this [ : ]. I'm gonna put the springs in on thursday. Thats a lot of stuff to reply to in one reply. What trans does my truck have? How do I know. Sorry I'm old school. I only know Th350s, TH400s, C-4, C-6, and power glides.

The 4200 ft altitude would have been good info to know up front. The pic in your avatar is a little deceptive - I thought you had a long wheelbase truck. Based on this info, your pre-cam numbers are right on.

At this point in time, I would suggest a compression check. IIRC, the stock 5.3 valve springs are rated for 0.500" max lift. That would put coil bind somewhere near 0.525". The Hot Cam has a 0.525" lift spec, which means you may be binding your springs. I would refrain from beating on the truck until you check this. Better yet, install the LS6 springs - they're good for about 0.575" lift.

Also, did you double check the dot alignment on the cam/crank gears? If the alignment was off by one tooth, it would cause a similar performance degradation.

I would probably try to resolve this issue before changing tunes. No sense in adding another variable to the mix. If it wasn't pulling timing and your fuel mix was in the ballpark, your ET should go down with the new cam, not up. You added 28º more intake duration with the new cam. How much did you change the fuel tables with the Predator?
