Has anyone tried or heard about the King Cobra cold air intake? I believe Tbryne Motorsports sales them. They are claiming rather high performance gains and I was wondering if anyone had used one or knew any info on them?

Heard it was a piece of shit. Fitment problems and not any real gains. Alot of people on tech have gotten rid of theirs and went with the usual manufacturers. I almost bought one a couple of months ago but decided to go the cheaper route in my sig. If you are dead set on getting a CAI i would get a volant or k&n if i was going to spend the money.

tipp, I can't speak to power gains of the King Cobra (I'm doubtful though). But, like 1slow01z71, I've also heard it's pretty shoddy. Keep in mind VaraRam also sells the "VR VELOCITY STACK". Maybe enough said there...
My suggestion: If you don't already have e-fans, do that first, and then survey all that working space you'll have up front in your engine compartment. From there, get one of those cheapo "eBay Chevy Airboxes" (throw away the filter BTW), a big K&N cone filter and some parts for a custom air tube.
You can fab it it all to your liking and have a nice custom CAI to show off.

But yeah, you can take those ebay air boxes and make them pretty decent. I used high temp foam pipe wrap to seal around the top better and insulated the metal box with aluminum faced Melamine foam. Also cut a hole in the bottom and ran a hose down by the front bumper. Oh, and used a whole bunch of aluminum tape in the process, lol.
I should should probably get off my lazy ass and post some![]()
