    4.8/5.3 differences

    So the only difference I've found between the 4.8 and 5.3 is 9mm of stroke. What all separates the 4.8 and 5.3?????

    cam is same.
    stroke is shorter, so of course crank and rods are different.

    I think the 4.8's run a flat top piston too, to keep compression ratio
    the same as 5.3's.

    4.8= short stroke long rod [great for high rpms use]
    5.3= long stroke short rod

    4.8= flat tops
    5.3= dish

    besides that the motors are identical, cam, heads, intake, exhaust manifolds and etc

    the 4.8 is sorta like the modern day DZ302

    2002 Silverado - 427Lsx w/ Twin gt4202s

    2000 Wrangler - 5.3litre with some stance
    2014 Xsport- 3.5 Eco boost

    it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

    Wasn't the 4.8 built to replace the 305?
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

    So basically the pistons, rods, and crank are the only differences??? By the way this is just a big curiosity thing

    The whole Gen-III series of engines was designed to replace the 1950's designed 305/350-SBC
    Good little engine, buts its day had come and gone back in the 70's, Chevy kept jacking with it
    well into the 90's for some dumb reason.
