The trans should hold for a while.
Get a good trans cooler with the converter.

The cam will work just fine, if that's how you intend on using the truck.
It's all preference when it comes to cams. I think a 230 in a truck is too big, but the next guy thinks it's just right.
But to answer your question, yes, the cam will work and run strong on the topend.
