    backfire and miss

Last Saturday night when I kinda got on the throttle, my truck backfired and started missing for a few seconds. It started running normal again after that, I let into a little bit again and the same problem. I was about 2 blocks from my house and I took it easy on home and parked it for the night. I went out the next morning and set the old Diablosport back to factory and it ran fine from then on. Later that night though the SES light came on. I hooked my reader up to it and it gave me a igniton coil b malfunction. cleared the code and all is well since. Yesterday I had the cats taken off and one was clogged up. When I got back to work I installed the Nelson and truck runs like a scalded arsed ape. I am assuming the clogged cat was causing the backfire and miss?

Need the code number. It's unlikely the cats caused a coil code.

it didnt give me a number, it was read from the diablo tuner. I checked to see if all of the coils are sparking and they are. The truck doesn't currently have any DTC's so I figure all is well. I just want to make sure since I have kinda hammered on her after I got the new tune.

Also, I was playing with the spark, power enrichment, etc. etc. on that diablo waste of space that morning. I hope I didn't mess anything up since I had no idea what I was doing. I have a bad problem with that, doing things I shouldnt be.

IF the issue doesn't come back, don't worry about it, it was probably the handheld, I've see it before.

cool, I was thinkin it was just my rookieness mixed with a dash of wrong tune. I'm very impressed with the tune you sent me BTW. I also hear it takes a couple hundred miles for everything to really set in. Can't wait to see how much better it can get. as far as plugs, I have 75,000 on the ODO, what plugs would be best? NGK, AC Delco, what? I should use iridium core too right?

Stock plugs are fine but what is stock has changed since yours was built. Put the ACD iridiums in it when it's time.
