    2006 2500hd leveling issue

hey i put a 1 inch block and keys under my HD well i want the front to sit level with the rear so i have turned the keys up some what and they kept hitting the bump stop under the top a-arm and i simply just cut the bump stop off... well... that took care of that noise but now there is a little noise on the left side like metal hitting metal.. it looks like driver side top ball joint? it is leaking greese outta boot.. so maybe i can get a new balljoint? and pump it fullllllll of greese? what does anyone think about this deal..

These are difficult ball joints to replace. Have patience and a buddy when you try it.

If you raised the front high enough that you needed to cut out the stop for the upper control arm, then your stock shocks are not long enough. If your shocks are maxxed out in length during normal suspension travel, maybe you are hearing that? Lift & level kits come with shock relocating brackets that allow using the stock length shocks. Also, many shock manufacturers offer shocks for lifted trucks, you could use shocks for a 2-3 inch lift. That would be a better choice if your shocks have some miles on them, or if your wheel/tire combo is larger or heavier than stock.

^what he said, theres only so much you should crank. If you have it to the point of the bump stops making contact you took it too far. I know on mine I didnt even need a block in the back for it to be level and Im probably an inch to half an inch away from the bump stop which is porbably too far also.

Take a picture from the front of your CV shaft showing the angle its at, im betting that thing is in a bind.

As for the noise, those trucks are knonw for not having the correct shock from the factory to begin with, then stretching them out more with cranking worsens the situation. Look into replacing them with some of the bilsteins that are made for our trucks with up to 2" of lift.

sorry guys yeah i have shock extensions and i also have 2 inch longer shocks.. and yeah i orderd some HEAVY DUTY cy axles from my buddy at offroad centers down the road.. there also 1 inch longer. and what im saying is my top balljoint is at a horrible angle so i was considering the cognito leveling kit to correct that.. but it rides ok and im just really not worried right now im just gonna get another ball joint i reckon. it might bust the boot cause of the bad angle so if it does ill just deal with it

Unhappy Wish it was a 1 ton

Would cranking the bars until the bolts bottom out on my half ton be alright or would it damage my CV's? I want to run a little bit bigger tire and get it sitting up like a stock 3/4 or 1 ton. It already has 2" blocks in the back from the factory that I'm guessing are part of the Z71 package. I park next to a guy with a regular 4x4 at school (we both have red RCSB trucks, they're like twins) and mine dwarfs his as it is now but I want it to sit up like my boss's 1 ton DURAMAX . I was originally thinking a full crank and 4" blocks in the back to replace the 2 so it would still sit level when I put my 700 pound pig of a four wheeler in the back. What do you guys think?
