Yes they are. I just replaced a customers last week. It only had 4th gear. He actually drove it to us like that. You could smell the burning clutch when he dropped it off.
on my 96 the shop that put my clutch in forgot oil. it lasted a month. then blew out every gear but 4th. so I drove it til it died and when it did I was parking in front of my apartment and the rearend locked up and I slid into place. I'm also looking at maybe a NV5600 but I'm getting the 3500 for only $725. fully rebuilt. hard to pass up.
