Thats a nice cam/springs and retainers with gaskets.

It all came out nice though and there's more benifits I think with upgrading to the bigger radiator and alternator. I don't regret it.

That's an excelent post! I recently (today) finished the same upgrade. It is all working really well, and i love the way it looks under the hood. Allen Nelson provided the wiring harness. Thanks again Allen!

I thought the stock alternator could handle the increased load, but found out differently. It works fine until both fans come on high, then the voltage drops off below 12v. Do you know if the part number on the alternator the same for the 2000 trucks?

1. With the fans mounted, is there room between the inner edge of the fans and the rad tank? Reason being I'm going to recore my HD rad to a two core here this summer.

2. Go here ---> http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19649 We can potentially build 180-200A alts for < $20.

Ouch! $900 bucks............I dunno if that's worth it to me. I think I would just as soon rip some e-fans off a camaro. But.....I have to say, that setup does look sharp.

KINGO 1977--It is alot, more like 820 to be exact,
That includes everything though;
300 for the Radiator. Didn't come with a peecock drain
270 for all the fan parts
160 for the alt (plus tax!&#33 and harness.

But- I needed the Alt for my stereo and having the larger Radiator always helps. Especially if your going with a 160 stat. The bigger radiator gives it more time to cool than the 5.3 unit, So I have been told.

ROSSCOB---it Should work for a 2000.The part # I gave was off a 2003 Denali. Factory 145A, started showing up in 02 I believe, I may be wrong.

I put the same one on my 99 and it worked fine.
I have a 2002 pcm in my 99 and I got a blinking battery light so
I had to buy a dual wire pigtail alternator clip because I added a wire from the pcm on my 99
(whole nother story)

HITMAN- Thanks for the Link. The fans have a clip that slides into a slot on the rad tanks. Increasing the width of the cores inward towards the engine will prolly cause the fan shroud to not hook in anymore. Also they have a rubber slot that clips into the edge of the radiator support on the bottom. It will prolly worm but another method of mounting will have to be used.

It's held in pretty good and designed well by GM. The two bolts on the top bolt into the existing factory 5.3/4.8 radiator holes.

I get you some detailed pics today.

I currently have a non HD 34" rad, I need one with damned motor oil cooler in it!

Yes, the 34" rad cools considerably better than the 28" one did.

See if you can stir up some fuss and see if anyone is interested in getting a 180-200A stator and making their own alt. All you have to do is be able to solder and have basic mechanical skills.

So you're saying the e-fans sit very close to the rad core?

BTW - what are you going to do with your stock rad? I may be interested in it...

The 05 fans sit right on the radiator basically.

If you want my 28" radiator it's yours. $25.

Anyone have an upclose shot of how close they sit? Perhaps I could trim some of the fan shroud down?

PM me, I'm interested...
