With no bad luck im going next week to pick up a set of 5.3 heads to work on. Since i'll never be boosted im going for a higher CR. Thinking about upgrading to ls6 valves since the price has come down on them(179 a head from 3 something). What valves would you guys go with.

who you sending the heads to?and how much$$?
how much do u have to get the milled in order to raise cr?
A place in TN. Probly not gonna mill the 5.3's. If i did it cost 25 a head. Just planning on getting the valve seat ground to run a 2.00 valve and use a .032 gasket and put them on after porting them.

ive heard that a 2.00 valve in a 5.3 head will make less power

The 3.780 bore can support a 2.00 valve pretty easily without shrouding becoming too much of a factor. But to really see a benefit you need a good valve job and bowl porting. Basic street port does wonders on ls heads.
