Cutouts would have to go AFTER the rear o2's if there are any. The only way cutouts would screw up an o2 sensor reading is if they were before the sensors.

If I gotta replace that I might as well just rip off this old flowmaster and put on the hooker aerochamber I was wanting.
I hate going into a shop not knowing what SHOULD be getting replaced and getting whatever THEY feel is needed.

have you fixed the exhaust leak? is your check engine light on? usually, or from my experiences working at the zone a clogged cat on that year model truck will throw up a PCM code. it is not extremely uncommon for that new of a truck to have a clogged cat. in the past mobth i have seen one 01 and two 02's with clogged cats.

My Baby: '67 GMC swb small back glass. 388ci stroker, old school bowtie heads est. 450hp, scat steele crank, eagle H beam rods, and Keith Black pistons, but only pushing 10:1 compression, fed by an Edelbrock 750 carb. THM350 trans. shiftkit w/manual valve body, 2800 stall going out back to some highway 3.42 gears, tubbed.
My connection was leaking there, and I tightened it. That would probably stop your leak there. as for everything else, I don't really know. I would think the cats, or a bananna in the tail pipe (grin).

A long shot on an 00, but sometimes clogged cats can give you a hefty power loss too if they are clogged. Woudln't think that would be the case with a truck as new as yours though.
TXsilverado, my basic understanding is that with any type of forced induction the engine wants to breathe, so the cutouts help that, but with a NA engine I am under the same impression you are, performance falls to the floor. Someone will correct me if I am off on this.

Alright guys, this is freakin makin me pissed.
It feels like I am towing a boat, but I'm not towing anything.
Or a better comparison would be like I am riding around with my emergeny brake on, but of course it is not.
So is this bigger than an exhaust issue??
I don't think a y-pipe leak could have such a dramatic decrease in power.
Any ideas, cuz I don't believe it is the cats either.

If you're down on power, I would bet it's the cats. Just my opinion but I feel strongly that is it. Your posts earlier didn't mention being down on power all times. Hell, if the cat is behind a bolt on connection, disconnect the pipe and see if the power is restored. It will be loud but you'll see if it's the cat. The only other thing I would think of is the intake tube collapsing down and choking the engine out or a dirty air cleaner but it would have to be really nasty to rob that much power.

I'm gonna have to say cats as well. One of the first signs is a drop in performance. The shaky engine could be the pcm trying to correct something related to the clogged cat.
If you don't have any emission testing, it might be worth it to change them to a high flow cat or gut them.
Mine were only on my truck 3 years and went bad, about 60K miles or so. I did run it hard, but it seemed like a short life for the cats.

if you dont have emissions, cut em outa there. If you do Magnaflow makes good highflow cats.
