    34" radiator swap

for those who have done it, does a 34" bolt in place of a 28 inch unit, anything need to be modded for it to fit? i have e-fans already. oh, its a used rad off a 03 2500, rockauto says same rad as an 05 half ton, there the same right?

it drops right in, only thing you need to do is trim the little rubber flaps on both sides. not a great explanation but you'll know exactly what i'm talking about once you get the radiator out.

i know the thread's old, but i'm thinking about going on & getting a 34" radiator while i'm doing the 4.3 -> 5.3 swap. are the hoses different between the V8 28" & the 34"?

also, removing the rubber flaps on either side of the radiator won't hurt anything, will it?

brand new radiator from 06 silverado 1500, went RIGHT in. it's like .4 inch thicker, and 6 inches longer.

yes...but buy new hose clamps. With my body lift, that bottom one was a PAIN to get one/off. i have electric fans, since body lift, i feel i need a short lower radiator hose, but everything fit same as before. you just use the outter holes on rad support. VERY simple. took maybe 20 minutes, including wrestling that bottom hose.
