what about this for a rear end?

BRAND NEW 9'' Center Section (Assembled) including: - New 31 Spline Trac-Lock Posi - New Richmond Gears (4.11 Ratio) - New Timken USA Bearing $500

Willl this be worth the money For my 97 reg cab? Im sure we can make it fit, but how much more is needed to make it work?

Or would a 14 bolt SF 6 lug axle out of a 90 chevy 3/4 ton be better?

There's no link to the ad in your post but if it's a 9" center section you'll need an entire 9" housing with brackets welded to fit the truck and axles (and a whole bunch of other stuff) too. Plan on another $1500+ for all that and in the end you'll have the most power robbing (because of pinion gear placement) of all the "strong" OEM axles for a mere $2000+...

imo it would be about the same price as a 12 or 14 bolt. its your choice, I bought an 8.8 for mine, same strength as a 12 bolt and cheaper to build.

I wouldn't say an 8.8" is the same strength as a 12 bolt but we all have our opinions.

With aftermarket guts and axles the 12-bolt, 9", and Dana 60 are all similar in strength.

The 8.5" GM Corporate and 8.8" F*** are about the same strength stock. A stock 8.5" is almost as strong as a stock 12 bolt but the older axle has more stuff available hence the beefed 12 bolt is beefier (LOL).

An 8.8" is fine for an S/T or other lighter application but I wouldn't put one in a C/K and if we're going F****, a 9" is much stronger.

A 9" robs more power than the Dana or the 12-bolt. It does so because the pinion is much lower in the housing and in relation to the ring than the Dana or 12 bolt. Less gear mesh equals more power suck.

The Dana is probably the strongest....yet weighs 20 pounds more than the 9" and the 12 bolt.

Then again...the 14 bolt is a truck rear axle with some slight relation to the Dana but I'm not sure about it's specs.

Mopar 8.75! Tougher than a 9 inch lighter than a 60 or 14 bolt, lots of gear selection fairly easy to find (look in a 72-80 dodge truck) just find one with the 489 casting. And if you get one with a factory Sure-Grip its about as tough as an aftermarket posi.

EDIT: If you do look for one they are the same looking as a 9"

Sort of....they have the drop out center but so does a '57 Chevy....LOL

The axle shafts are weak (like all the rest) and there are not as many 8.75" Mopars as anything else ever produced by any manufacturer. Still a good one to look at...kinda like the F*** 8.8".
