Brake Fluid Reservoir & Fuse Compartment

So I'm wanting to paint both of these. I could mask them off and paint them but would prefer to pull them.

If I pull the brake reservoir will it leak fluid or is it designed so it can be removed without losing fluid or pressure?

I've never messed with the electrical/fuse box (on the drivers side of the engine compartment). The cap comes right off obviously - what about the lower portion - is it easily removable?

The lower half of the cover comes off easily after taking off the fender to cowl brace (four 13mm bolts). There are two tabs on the engine side of the lower cover that need released.

If you pull the resevoir off fluid will go everywhere. If I were to paint one, I'd take the entire cylinder off at the booster, dump it, clean it up, pull the resevoir off, paint it, then reassemble it. You need to bench bleed the cylinder before reinstallation, then bleed the ABS, then bleed at the wheels. There is a good possibility there are no rebuild seals (a lot of the new vehicles have "non-rebuildable" cylinders) for it so be careful. Not worth it IMO. Of course you could just mask it.

Plus, the brake fluid is just gonna ruin the paint if you spill it or when it seeps arnd cap.

Thanks Nathan. I'll just mask the brake reservoir.

Moze, remember when I took off the brake stuff when we tried to do the turbo? Just unbolt the 4 nuts from the booster to the fluid reservoir and brake valves and it will come off. You can paint that, but it has to stay in the truck because the brake lines will still be attached. The actual brake booster is already painted a gloss black--so no need to take that off.

And follow the other directions Nate said about the fuse panel.
