For you I would try and get a 02-05 motor but make sure you get a cable driven throttle body, which they stopped using in 02. Best thing to do is get a pull out, take it apart, clean it up, replace gaskets and seals, maybe put in a cam, have the heads cleaned up and slap it in. I have a 03 LQ9 in my 98 rcsb, its a nice little truck with that motor. I would avoid buying a motor over the internet, just because there is a lot of scum out there, and you really wont know what your getting. Just look up any salvage yard in your area, and I am sure you can get a pull out. As for your wiring, don't think twice about it. Give Nelson performance a call, let him know what your doing, and he will build you a custom one. There harnesses are nice, clean, and extremely easy to work with. If you don't have a local tuner, then you might want to look into getting a mail order tune from Nelson as well.
