Thread: HELP

  1. #1
I have a 99 silverado with a 5.3 and I am looking at cold air intakes. I am having trouble choosing the one I want and am looking for some advice. The only mods I have is a hypertech programer. But Exhaust is on the way.
99 excab, Nelson Tune, k&n FIPKII, pacesetter long tubes, No Cats, Dual Magnaflows with turndowns,
    1/4: 15.66@88.1 Before Nelson, headers, and de-cating
    Also 69 camaro SS 350 4speed, 13.81@103.6, Ls1 swap planned

All do the same... more air flow at high RPM. I've had my K&N FIPK since I had my '99 Z71. So it's got damn near 80K mi on it...

Works great, fits great, and does its job properly.

The Volant is a nice one from what I've seen, the UPD likes to crack, AirAid seems mkay too.

What are you guys doing to the UPDs to make them crack???
I have had mine for nearly 30k and it hasn't done any cracking, I think you guys must be giving these things hell when you go to put them on the throttle body, cuz that's the only way you could crack it unless it came from the factory that way.

Everyone I know that has one says they are awesome, and I agree. I could tell a difference as soon as I had it installed. UPD ROCKS!

    I don't use one...

I know of more than one person that have used them that have cracked. They just seem cheaply made for whatever reason.
