1991 chevy 4.8 swap
I am looking into starting a new project with my truck. I picked up a 2002 4.8l for almost nothing, my idea was to swap that into my 1991 c1500 rcsb truck. I currently have a 4.3l v6 in it right now with a rebuilt 700r4 with less then 8k miles on it. My question was what would be needed to put this in my truck?
I am assuming that I will have to have a y pipe custom made and motor mounts adjusted. I herd somewhere that if I use a 1998 corvette flywheel the torque converter would mount up. But what about the tv cable and will a 0411 pcm run the lockup in my trans? How would i wire up my gauges and will the current fuel lines take the added pressure of a newer pump? Are there any specific computers I should look for and stay away from? What would be easiest to tune? I almost done even know where to start with one of these motors!
I have a little experience in this field, my last swap was in a 1984 s-10 blazer 4x4. I put a brand new gm 3.1 camaro crate engine in it and ran a 1227727 computer. So I should have no problem with wiring and tuning the pcm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matthew
