So , do 22'' rims throw off the odometer ?

... or do the lower profile tires mounted on these oversized rims essentially keep the circumference of the tire the same ? I've never owned these types of rims but I"m betting that the odometers end up reading a lot lower , especially on an older truck like my 94 with 15's as stock . Just curious .

It's all about the rolling circumference. If that stays the same, then the speedometer and odometer will stay correct. If circumference is changed, the pcm can be reprogrammed for a proper correction.

Thanks , but how many people do you think bother to do this ? Maybe most of the guys on here would since we 'll work on and improve our vehicles . I"m thinking of most of the morons I see here in N.O. who just want to slap a set of rims on to their trucks thinking this "customizes" their rides . These are the same guys who worry more about the paint , window tint and stereos than they do the care of the engine and other moving parts . I've just been looking around at trucks for sale and see a lot with oversized wheels . I simply wouldn't buy one of them .

Try this little tool. Tire size calculator

btw. According to that tool, a 275/30/22 would be within 1.3% of the stock circumference.

ps. I hate to sound like a pussy, but I'm not into really over sized wheels. To me it gives a vehicle a "Hot Wheels" look, that is kinda lame. lol

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you think your truck looks trick with some big wheels on it, then do it. But they sell pcm programmers that are direct plug in when you add new wheels. I'm almost positve it affects the older trucks much more that newer. In 95' if you were rockin 18" wheels you were the S***.
