Currently on my truck I have E-Brock Shortie Headers in to the stock y pipe down to the back where it goes into a glasspack that y's on the end and goes out to my dual tips. Im looking to make my truck sound like a truck and be a bit louder To me and the soon to be wife it sounds quiet and she complains that its TOO QUIET!! So after talking to the speed shop in town they said that they get this complaint alot from 5.3 owners....no so much there wifes but they get this complaint. So here is what they can do from him explaining it to me on the phone. I want everybodys opinion on this....They said that they will cut off the pipe after the cats redo the o2 sensors in the same spots make an X-pipe and straight pipe out the back to my exsisting dual pipes, for $180 bucks....does this sound ok or will there be any problems??? Let me know what u think!!

    Thanks

    Greg

ok!!!! why do an x pipe after cutting off the y pipe which goes into one to begin with. and with no muff it is going to sound like shit. if you arent go to mod it to death there is no reason to go to extreme with the exhaust. imo i would get a nice single inlet muff and dual out but a louder muff. but if you want to go the dual route then go for it. try dumping your exhaust you have now and see how it works.

Yea I would try dumping it first. Cause my friend has the exact same setup as you, but dubped before the axle. An he thinks his is to loud. But I dont recomend the dual exhaust unless you have some good Mods. An you will get worse gas millage to. Trust me I know, an so do many others. Just dry dumping it first. Let us know what happens

How long is your glass pack...if it is 20 or so inches, go shorter..that will make it louder (12 inch)....if all your trying to do is make it louder...or dump what you got first jus to see if that satisfys ya...

Im just looking to make my tuck louder, my parents tahoe sounds louder then my truck and I know that is a 98 but its factory spit up by the cats so that when they added dual exhaust it became true duals..It sounds great!

This is what my glasspack looks like

looks like bout 18 inches...I would go shorter if you want it louder...I know that 12 inch are loud...but it is jus on what you decide...if you like the exits on your exhaust now then I would go shorter glass pack...

A lot of you say "unless you plan on serious mods then don't go with an x-pipe." What would you consider serious modding? I don't plan on SC, TC or N2O on this truck but I do plan on putting a cam and LT headers on it. Would that be worth going true duals or would a single in/out be sufficient? What about a single in/dual out? I really want to put an exhaust on my truck but don't want an exhaust that will rob me off power though.
