thats good to know if i do decied to turbo/supercharge it. i want to see what kind of power i can get just with all motor ya know, no nitrous or turbo

if i had to guess im in the 5xx range. NA you wont get much out of a 4.8. if you did you ould need to spin it other side of 7k and most autos dont like that.

spin motor on other side of 7k. as in youll need to turn over 7000 rpms to really get a 4.8 up there in the power range NA. some are going to argue but im old school. look at a chevy 283, they are still used in some racing applications. they build those motors and turn 8k. with a small stroke and long rod its a perfect canidate to rev high. the 4.8 is similar at 292 cubic inches. most 5.7/6.0 setups rev 6800 on average. now think a motor with less stroke is going ot need more rpm to be similar to the larger motors. think 4 banger here. granted you can make some power NA with a 4.8 and stay low in rpms but saying if you wanted a big power 4.8 NA then rpms is what you turn

ok now i get what you mean, 7000 rpms seems alot for a 4.8. ill have to wait and see what this little motor will put out, and if it blows up...then its time for a big block! =)

dude dude dude. a big block is a joke plain out joke. when you compare one to todays motors they are jokes. 7k isnt much for a small stroke long rod motor. if you are new to the LS world. best advice anyone can give you is. anything you know about oldschool motors totally forget. the LS motors throw out anything old school knowledge

haha gotcha! im use to saying BB chevys, im 17 so i dont know much about the LS motors, ill learn though!

honestly anything daddy tought you forget. a BB is a boat anchor. get a 454 bigblock and then get a 454 LS motor. the poor BB would cry its way home

if i ever need a boat anchor i know what to get.. ill stick with the LS motors now, thanks!

Hey Quik, are you old school 7K RPM or against old school - Big Block Chevy...LOL? If it were easy and cheap to always use LS engines, Super Comp dragsters wouldn't have BBC's....
