    Belt issues. help!

OK my truck runs great. Needs a Live tune, but its running good. A few days ago, I started hearing belt noise. It went away with warm up, so I didn't think anything of it. Came back, and wont go away now. It looks like there is a slightly wider spot on the belt. Or maybe its misaligned. You can see a wobble, or the hi spot, on the belt while its running. Here is a Vid. YouTube - Belt issues
I will be picking up another belt today. I was thinking its a bad belt, with a deformity. what do you guys think?

It's hard to tell from the video but a common cause of belt noise on these is a misaligned P/S pulley. Some of them were pressed on too far. Make sure the shaft in the center of the pulley is flush with the pulley lip.

Did you reinstall the balancer after the cam swap by procedure? It ends up at near 275 ft/lbs on the NEW bolt after the second angle torque.

Since you just did a cam swap--you prolly got coolant on the belt. Did you dead head the new harmonic balancer bolt when you put it back on??? Actually, let me ask this...#1--did you use a new crank bolt? #2 (haha..I said #2 hehe) How did you bolt down the crank pulley?

You shouldn't have touched the PS pulley at all, so I doubt that is the problem. I would also check the A/C belt and make sure it is aligned. How is the tension on the belts?

Another thing: Look at the belt alignment from the alt pulley down to the crank pulley. Is it plumb? Another good way to find out if the crank pulley was tightened all the way is to look on the pulley's neck to see if you see a shiny spot before it goes into the front timing cover...if you see a shiny spot on the pulley neck, it isn;t on all the way...

They were built that way and it takes time to show up.

Basically, it looks kinda like the alt pulley is a few mm further out than the rest of them. But you can see that high spot, that causes the noise, on all the pulleys. But it only makes noise on the alt pulley. Maybe tighten the alt pulley more with impact?

Jeff if you think its the alt pulley, we can measure it, pull it off and machine it down to where it needs to be.

I gotta fix this before tomarrow nights races. Along with finishing removing material from the brake calipers so the 15's will fit. Refill the nitrous bottle. And hopefully Allen will be there to do a quick idle retune.
