    Cam Time

I wanna cam my truck very soon and Want a somewhat mild cam that I can run with LS6 Springs and have a badass lope to it. I was wondering if you guys could help me out and post up some numbers.

So far Ive found the Ls1 hot cam 218/228 .518 .518 112 LSA and I found it for a hundred bucks a fresh copy.

Or if anyones getting rid of a small cam soon let me know

I wouldn't exactly call this a small cam, especially in a heavy truck with a 4.8L engine. It has 28 degrees more intake duration than your current cam. It was designed for the 5.7L engine in vehicles that weigh about a ton less than your truck.

If you want a good performance pop with decent street manners and a lopey idle, I would go with the Vinci street/strip cam #047 (210/218 0.531/0.531 112). It will work well with the LS6 springs and stock heads.

Or, you could go with Vinci's Asp-Kicker cam #062, which is the same grind with higher lift (0.551). The LS6 springs would also work with this cam.

Here's a sound clip of their idle:

I don't know if these cams have any advance ground in. If they don't, I would install either one with 107-108 degree ICL.

Maybe it was called small because of the low lift to duration ratio?

Sounds good in the Vette, would it perform well in a 4.8 or 5.3 with stock heads and sound that good?

It will perform well with any of the LS series engines up to 6000 RPM. It will probably have a tiny bit more lope to the idle in a 5.3 or 4.8 compared to the 5.7 sound clip. The smaller the engine, the more lopey the idle with a given cam.

Yea i put the hot cam in my truck and the tq is nice but it shines at 3k. and it sound really sweet at idle.

Thats with out a tune but you get the idea, and the gmpp hot cam is 525 lift.
