Any suggestions to what color I should paint it??

Looks like a beast. If it is a trail rider then flat black. if it spends more time on the road something else. Or you could always Rhino-Line the whole thing.

I'd keep it fairly dark in color, but toss that 351M for a 460. It's got the same bellhousing as your current motor.

Or at least get a 400M...

I never understood the difference between all the "M" motors. A 351M is a 351, w/a 400 stroke right? But it sounds like a big block. So a 400M is a 400 w/a 428, or 460 stroke or something like that? I want something that will rev fairly quickly and stay together, and I was told that a 351M wasn't the choice for that, so I was thinking a 351W or a 302.

I also want to put a t-18 4speed in it..although the c-6 is plenty stout.

dark blue, or flat black.....only way to go with those trucks. And I wouldn't spend too much on the paint job....under $500 at Maaco. Just something to keep it from rusting. Besides, from the looks of it, that truck will be covered in mud the majority of the time anyways.

Let me know if ya want to purchase a set of wheels for it.

The M's are more like Cleveland motors, the heads are HUGE. If it came with a factory 4 bbl then there's no way it'll even be streetable in the low end area. Intake runners are just too large. It'll either be a topend racer or a good blower motor candidate.

It'd be like having 225cc heads on a 4.8 and trying to get it street friendly under 3500rpm lol

351M is basically a Cleveland with a BBF bellhousing. The only difference between the 351 and 400 are the cranks mainly. 3.5" for the 351 and 4" for the 400.

If you have the C6, keep it. It's killer! That truck should have the D44 soild and a 9" out back too... great setup. The TC I think is a NP205.

I'd like to suggest 7 shades of sh*t as a good color canidate. j/k i've got a 78' rclb truck exactly like that. and its true the 351m is a definite piece. I went to the junkyard and pulled a 390 out of an old ltd. it wasnt much of an improvement but at least it got it under the 1 minute 0-60 mark. on the other hand my buddy cory has a 77' with a 460 with a air gap manifold and an 800 cfm carb and a minor valve job and that thing straight rips it up. those c6's are plenty strong if i had a buck for every time i've drop shifted that truck i could probably have a new tranny by now.

After looking (and cleaning) the engine bay some, I found a sticker on the valve cover that states the engine is "351M/400 Family" and that the size is 400CID, so I'm assuming that it is a 400 now..the dude I bought it from musta not known what the hell it had. It has the factory 2bbl on it, so I"m sure it would benefit from a carb upgrade, and maybe some headers.

Also, what kinda wheels you got for it? I don't want anything fancy, I bought mainly for playing and not tearing my Chevy to pieces.
