ls6 springs or comp bee hive

ok, ive heard ls6 springs are good to .550 and ive heard they are good to .580

    which is it?

here is the cam im gonna go with
    DUR @ .004" 272*/280*
    DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
    LIFT .551/.551
    OVERLAP 46*
    LSA 116*

will ls6 springs work or will i need to go with the comp bee-hive springs?

LS6 yellow springs (02 newer) are good to a .580 and the LS6 blue springs (pre 02) are good to a .550

the cam you are getting is basically the 02 newer LS6 cam

i got the ls6 springs and i was told they were good for 550 lift. Ive also heard 570 lift. but i wouldn't go higher then 550 lift cam with those spring just to be on the safe side.

Since there are 31 degrees between the seat and 0.050" lift points, I would go with the LS6 springs. They are more than adequate at 0.551" max lift.

If the lobes were more aggressive (like 25 degrees between seat and 0.050" lift points), or you were going with forced induction, I would then use the Comp 918 springs. The increased spring pressure will help control the valves better at higher RPM levels.

If max lift exceeds 0.580" with agressive lobes, I would then use a good double spring, like the Patriot Golds.

for FI you should go ahead and go with the patriot gold's, they wont wear down as quick as the comp's...plus they were a lot of problems with the comp springs breaking
