+1 on the oil pump possible cause, any pinging or knocking noise from the engine is not good, could be the lifters bleeding down due to low oil pressure, I would seriusly stop driving it to prevent further damage, and if did get damaged, make it an excuse to do a stroker kit....
Had a 99 GMC ESCB with LQ4 conversion and Nelson Performance tunning, currently workin on my 82 SCB GMC with carbed LQ4 conversion in progress, Also have a 00 SS Camaro that runs mid 11's all day long with bolt ons, Drag race my 79 malibu that has a 496 BBC runnin 10's on motor, shootin for 9's with the 250 shot of nitrous in its near future. Use my 04 2500 chevy to pull my rig around and drive the fam in our 07 NNBS yukon, Die Hard Chevy Fan Till The Death.

What if you have an external oil cooler like my 4.3 Blazer and my Denali? The Blazer has that sucky old type engine but the GMC has cooler lines hooked up there.

Yep me and Wade got it done. It really wasn't hard, except the pick up tube, that part took patience and alot of bithcing especially to get the bolt back in the oil pump.

Actually enjoyed helping out Daniel, it was nice to get dirty again it has been a while. Yeah that darn pick-up tube was a PITA to get the bolt back thru when we put the new oil pump on, we did drop it once into the oil pan but a magnet easily got it out. Cody's trick in heating up the UD pulley to get it back on was excellent advice, heated it up and it slid right on. Undoing the 10 oil pan bolts is just tedious and without air tools it would have taken much longer to do this. We took our time that way we did not 2nd guess ourselves after starting it up after the install. Also not having to remove the radiator saved alot of time and mess, the biggest mess was when I removed the water pump feed lines coolant went all over the place and thank god we did not have to remove any lines that had ATF fluid in it. I was real impressed with Daniel during the install he took charge and had no fear.
