Ok, I'm installing the transgo this weekend and looked at the haynes about dropping the pan. So i have to disconnect that shift linkage, ok check. My problem is this, some people have been saying I need to drop the drivers side exhaust member too? I have the deep pan as well on my 01 2wd 4.8.

Can you enlighten me to if most have had to drop that driver's side exhaust member or not, and can I get away with it by just unbolting the flange at the cat? If not what do I need to unbolt and will I need to get new doughnut gaskets?
I'm really hoping that haynes wasn't leading me astray and that GM engineers weren't idots, but more outrageous things have happened. Just trying to get all this straight so when I go to put the transgo in and use the Autozone filter and gasket kit I can actually do it and I'm not stuck with a pan that won't drop all the way down.
Thanks guys,
Andrew
