Remember, in TX the cats are actually part of the safety inspection (not the emissions portion that some counties have) and if you're in a non-emissions county (like me), it's very likely the inspector will never look under the truck. If the SES is off, there are no history emissions DTC's, and all the I/M flags have run...the plug in test should pass too.

There are a lot of if's but it can be done.

I should have stated my question better.
The visual inspection is no big deal, just bolt the cats back in place and leave the rear O2's there for looks.
I was just curious that when they plug in their scanner for testing, they might see that the CEL is off (rear O2's) that they would fail the vehicle.
Does any one have first hand experience with this?
i just got mine done like 2-3 months ago and they didnt even look at my s**t...
its too damn hot out here for them to get down on the ground and look.
they just plug it in and it reads clean and then do the gas cap test and youre out of there

Thanks guys, I shouldnt have any problems then.
I do remember my last emissions test, they held mirrors under the truck to make sure the cats were there. So Ill just bolt them back in when the time comes.
Without the cats and installing some efans, I should gain some nice power and some mpg also!!
