    +1 Doesn't sound purely mechanical, it would be knocking from startup till 20 seconds. Sounds to me like something is commanding the oil out of the lifters after 20 seconds.

    ...yet when one that is stock has this happen there is no noise.

    I think my dad would be yelling at me quietly, asking me to find a solution for his 2007 GMT900 Sierra 5.3 with AFM.....

    We know that Allen put lifters in which means the heads were off. That doesn't mean the valley cover that houses most of the AFM stuff was.....but maybe it was...
