With california's C.A.R.B squeeze on our trucks can you change the MAF sensor and not have to worry about failing visual....or do I need one with an O.E. number?

what kind of mods do you have, the stock one is capable of plenty HP, do you plan on making lots of hp, or just looking to upgrade to an aftermarket one?

I was just talking to someone about them getting a new one. I dont know much about them and I was just asking. When you get the PCM changed does that effect the MAF sensor. Like do you not need an aftermarket one because the "retune" changes in the PCM what the new MAF would change anyways?
When you "Nelson Tune" a truck does the truck become un smog legal in california?
I heard that SOME aftermarket companie's reprograming effects the smog-ability in california, and the only ones are the JET stage one chips and the HPP3.]
Do you know anything about this? I dunno much about ecu/pcm stuff but I want to learn more, theres just no one out here that knows what the hell I'm talking about beyond what they saw in the fast and the furious....know what I mean?
Stock MAF is fine for even for BIG power, I think it maxes out around 500rwhp or something insane like that. The ones on these vehicles aren't like the ones on ol' 5.0 Mustangs that are a weenie 55mm. lol
The reflashed ECU should be invisible to the CARB police out there, you're only modifying the timing/fuel aspect.

Let's face it, the red hair... makes 'em wet.
the tune is transparent to the emissions cops, they shouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary and it won't run any different, emission wise,
thanks,

LOL, nah I never said it was bad at all. You must be ready for the associated driveline beef up that comes with that sort of power.Originally posted by dewmanshu@Aug 17 2004, 09:58 AM
