You're going to lose some lowend power but make it up with topend HP. I like the '01 specs better as it has a tighter LSA and less exhaust duration.

This cam will work a lot better with a good stall converter of at least 2800rpm or greater.

It needs better springs to hold the higher lift and hrm... what else.

Oh, you'll need higher shift points to take advantage of it. I'd probably shift it around 6200-6400rpm.

hit man, I always end up staring and staring at your avy..
    Heh

Can a stock block 5.3L and 4l60e handle shifting at 6k+?

I know I need that rpm to gain the power, but I don't want to eat my motor or tranny.

    Thanks,
    derek

LOL, she's got a nice set. It's Sydney Moon if you're wondeirng.

Yeah you could spin the stock motor to about 6500rpm before I'd think twice, after that get some ARP rod bolts and stretched properly. Stock rods are powdered metal...very strong. Basically like an I-beam forged.

    Awesome!

I guess with that LS6 valve train (well, minus the lifters and valves) and the bottom end that you say is rock solid I will be set to rev it on up!

I think I'll have my tuner set to shift point for 6300. Its just that the tach stops at 6K and I think the stock point is at 5800.... so that scares me, revving higher than the stock setting and even more than the tach registers.

    Thanks for the info!

Also.... how about that tranny? It's not gonna get too upset by the higher engine revs, is it?

6200-6300 is where I'd shift also.. FYI

It should be okay shifting that high, I'd still consider a fat cooler and a TransGo to keep fluid flow up and quicken the shifts some.
