    relocating the mass air?

so my iats are climbing with this 90 dg weather.my current location is were the factory box was .i would like to move my intake to a more ideal place ,and it doesnt lok like the harness for the maf is long enough to put in front of the tb.do you guys have to lengthen the wires when you relocate them or am i just misjudging the lenght of the factory harness?and were is the most ideal place to install the intake tube and filter ? iwas thinking straight down too suck outside air going down the rd.im open for ideas.or pics would help.finally ,my factory maf bolts to a shield then a 5 inch filter.if i illiminate the 5 inch filter ,will i just go get a smaller 1 or is theyre something else i have to do?aanother words were it sandwiches together ,is there a lip fo a smaller filter or is it just a butt thats adapts from maf to 5 inch filter .i hope this makes some sense .seems rediculous but thats what im looking at on my setup.

    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.

Mine reached fine without cutting it. Just pull it out of the wire loom and it will reach over.

Does it matter how close the maf is to the engine? So if i were to to move say 2 feet would it matter?
