Hey well new truck owner here and new to the sight. I have always liked cars and racing. My last car was a Gtp. Im sure most of you know what that is but for those who dont, is a Supercharged Grand Prix that stock wasnt all that but 240 isnt bad. After an exhaust and intake it was a 14.3 sec car. So for a v6 that pretty good. Now i have an 04 sierra that will become better than a 14 sec truck. And thats about it. So if any of you guys know where i sould start with a 4.8 let me know thanks

    Welcome.

These trucks respond very well to intake and exhaust mods, so start there. A good tune is worth every dollar many times over so get a hold of Allen for that.

Then put a blower on it...........

    mines not all that fast
    welcome to the site.
guess the first thing to do would be the intake and exhaust like mentioned earlier.
if you go true dual you will need an x-pipe in there, cause these 4.8's dont like the big exhaust. also you need to get a stall if you want it to really get up and move.
mine was a turd untill, i put the stall in. and dont waste your time with a HyperCrap, or any other hand held unless your not really serious about making your truck quick, if you are, then either purchas edit, and tune it yourself, or buy a custom tune from allen(Farmtruc) He can hook you up with a good tune.
also need to look at your gears. 3.73's are fine if you are running alot on the highway, but if not than you could look at some 4.10's, it all depends on what you want.
    Now for the bad news.
If your gonna start modding the truck, I promise you your transmission is gonna take a crap on you. you either need to look at upgrading your trans to a 4L65E or find enough money, and do a 4L80E swap.( not easy!!!!&#33
You can ask the guys that have been on here for a while, how many transmissions I went thru in a 4 month period

Oh and DONT TAKE YOUR TRUCK TO COTTMAN TRANSMISSIONS!!!!! THOSE GUYS DONT KNOW THERE HAND FROM THIER @$$
If you got any questions feel free to ask, either someone here, or I will be glad to help out.

Welcome, I joined the site this week. I seem to be the only one on the west side of Houston. I also installed a new Nelson PCM in my 6.0 today since all on this site recomend it. If your going to mod your truck, my advice is to save your money and research any mod before you spend money on it and get the best bang for your buck. Read some of the threads on performance mods and tuning for a good education.

Well thanks for the welcome guys. Ill try to be at the Houston GTG. Also ill look for yall at the target, so if you see an 04 GMC bright blue and bone stock.....thats me. See some of yall arounf town. I do have a question. Deer Park Muffler told me to put a 3 chamber on my truck it would sound the best. They want to make it a dule with one muffler 2 in 2out, but I want loud, sound good, and performance. What do yall say?
