    New Yorker in Arizona

Hey guys! My 05 Crewcab Silverado 4X4 is finally out of warranty, so let the modifications begin! It's got a 5.3, (which I'm not overly thrilled with). It seems to rely more on RPM's and gearing rather than flat engine torque to move it. I live in the mountains, so it's constantly downshifting to move such a heavy truck over the hills. I'm a mechanic by trade at the local shop here in town, but I'm always open to hearing what others have done to their rides, and to see what has worked and what hasn't. Looking forward to meeting you all. Thanks.

Welcome to the site!!! sound like you will want a tune to change your shift parameters and get rid of that damn torque management. Go with Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability you be happy!!

I've heard of this Nelson Tune, but I don't know anyone who's actually had it done.

First of all, and most importantly, welcome to/from another New Yorker.

    Welcome to the site.

Secondly, Allen Nelson has tuned literally thousands of trucks and is one of the most respected tuners there is.

I was born in Forest Hills, but grew up in St James, out on Long Island.
I live in a real rural area of Northern AZ now. Lots of good 4 wheeling spots out here. Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I went and checked out Nelson's site from a link I found here.(Like from the post right above this one!) Sounds a lot better than the Hypertech thingie I was looking at on Summit. I like that he offers free upgrades if you add on more go-fast goodies. Soon as I can scrape together the $3 bills +, I'll be giving them a call.
