I agree with what you're saying Nitrous, maybe I misunderstood the original question. I'm assuming that by GenIV he means an engine/trans combo that uses the newer E38 pcm that the signals for the gauges/ac control and other things are sent over the can bus. This means you wouldn't be able to use an '02 pcm that has the correct outputs to run gauges/ac/etc. If it's a GenIII motor then of course you can ditch the old black box pcm and run the newer styls ('02 for example) pcm...that's what I did too

As far as running two pcms being alot of clutter, I agree, but there must be a reason that John Speartech went that way.
