    5.3 heads on 6.0

Folks are there performance gains from this swap? 5.3 heads on a 6.0 block.I have a 5.3 with 133k + miles on it and it has a death rattle in the bottom end. I am swaping the 5.3 for a 6.0 in a 03 Z71

no performance gain by running the heads really....you get more compression but less flow through the heads so it balances itself out power wise

    head swap

Thank you. I have the heads now on the 5.3. I was wondering if I should go with a long block or short block in the 6.0 from a cost point. The heads would have to be reworked new guides and seals because of the miles and I could have a port job done at the same time for better CFM. I just didn't waste money if there is no gains to be had. It seems that we will plug and play the 6.0 as I have a K&N air box and the Superchips flashpac tuner and duals already on it.

i would just pick up a 6.0 long block and have the whole 6.0 reworked...then just use the intake an all the accessories from the 5.3...but you also may want to get a real tune from Nelson because the 5.3 program will run a little to much timing for the 6.0 and you may get detonation from it

    Timing

    Mean05,
Is this something the Superchips can help with. The tuner I have is downloadable via. the internet and I can get them to write a program for it. I have already talked to those folks and they say its no problem.

Is Nelson's tuning done on a laptop or dyno. How do I get in touch with them?
    Thanks for the help

I just purchased a 6.0L Long Block for $800 and im going to swap the 317 heads for LS1 241 heads for the compression on my 5.3L so im kinda in the same boat lol. But in my opinion you should look around and find out what you plan to do to your truck in the future and work towards that. hope that helped Good Luck,
