    Cam install

What should I budget for putting a cam into my 01 6.0l? not so much worried about cam itself mainly labor and anything associated with it.

Ide say $1200 would cover everything. Make it $1300 to be safe. Basic cam and valvetrain swap.

If you're willing to make a drive and supply some beer and food, there are a lot of guys on here who would be more than willing to help you with this to save you some money!! Of course, with some of these guys, the beer and food part might cost more than if you took it somewhere!!!

Exactly what I was going to say. Spend 7-800 on cam, springs, rods. Make some contacts, make a drive, make new friends, hang out, install the cam, and drive home.

Thanks for all the input and suggestions guys. I really got to make up my mind what I want to do now. Im tempted to just buy another block and start building it, when its finished swap it out and put the current one in my 91 4x4.

Whats your opinions on buying a shortblock (probably 408) versus buying a ebay motor or similar and sending it off to have the machine work done.

Guess the only benefit I see from buying a used one is I could find one with the accessories and not have to chase them down for when I swap into the other truck.

Victoria, huh? I have a sister that lives in Sugarland. I could schedule a visit to my sister's place on a weekend and we could start it early on a Saturday morning and be done Saturday afternoon. I would estimate a cam kit from Texas Speed to be about $650-$700.
